A cool charity day sees donations to 3 charities!

Dressing down for work, an ice bag throwing competition and taking part in a cake bake off were just a few of the ways The Ice Co raised money on their recent charity day.

The Ice Co takes charity events seriously and often holds fundraising events throughout the year with the official annual charity day taking place towards the end of summer.

There was a great selection of cakes for the bake off, with Carrot Cake being a particular favourite. But the best was Sam Street’s who won with the below.

Staff are asked to nominate charities they wish for the money raised to go to, and this year 3 were chosen from the nominations.

In total £660 was raised throughout the day with £220 going to each chosen charity. The charities who received the donations were:

Survive – Offers support for rape and sexual abuse victims in York and North Yorkshire.

Help Bring JJ Home – This charity has been created to help raise money for JJ, who is a child living locally to our head office in West Yorkshire, to help bring him home following a head on collision which resulted in him being paralyzed from the chest down.

Crohns and Colitis UK – aims to improve life for everyone affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) – the main forms being Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis of which a staff member suffers.

The charity day fell in the middle of the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ craze, and as we had received a number of nominations to do it, we thought what better time than when we were already holding our charity event.

Owners, Directors and a number of staff got involved in the icy event….but we have another blog for this! Click here to see it!

We always have a great, fun day raising money and we look forward to hopefully doing the same next year.
