The Ice Co hits Paris for the biggest food and drink exhibition this year – SIAL

Displays and celebrations as extravagant as the Moulin Rouge , fruit statues of the Eiffel Tower and rows of exhibitors as impressive as the Champs Elysees….that’s SIAL exhibition for you!

Companies from worldwide descended on Paris  last week for what is known to be the world’s biggest food innovation marketplace and The Ice Co  and sister company Blue Keld decided to join them.

SIAL Innovation 50

This year marked a special landmark for SIAL – 50 years of innovation! And to put this into perspective (you know, so WHAT has actually been discovered at SIAL?!) Well, how about some of these products and themes:

1967: The Microwave
1968: The first frozen ready meals
1984: Fresh veg that has been pre washed, peeled and cut and are sealed in bags ready-to-eat (e.g salad and mixed veg)
1994: Online shopping
2004: Click and collect shopping (buy online, collect from store later)
2011: Virtual supermarkets – consumers can do their shopping by scanning QR codes with their phone
And in 2014: The Ice Co’s ‘Ice and Slice’ and ‘Super Cubes’!

Along with some other great products, we were chosen to be within the 2014 SIAL innovation observatory, and to have been selected to appear in a hall where so many great innovations have been over the years is something we are extremely proud of.

Our Innovations:

We aim to give consumers a range of products, with our latest innovations giving the ability to enjoy the bar experience in your own home.

Ice & Slice for example is a ‘no mess, no waste’ approach to ‘would you like ice & a slice in that?’ and our brand new Super Cubes replicate the huge chunks of ice, often carved from ice blocks in cocktail bars and restaurants (they also melt very slowly, diluting your drink less…perfect!). Now you can enjoy this at home.

A visit from Defras Secretary of State Liz Truss MP was a highlight on Monday, who came to visit The Ice Co stand and to see our range of products…unfortunately she wasn’t convinced that the best way to show the ice ‘working’ was in a Gin & Tonic, however…it was only 10am.

Therefore, some juggling of the cubes in the safe hands of our MD Paul hopefully got the right message across!
